Exhibition featuring Hanoi’s cultural heritages chosen for filming locations

The event is being organised by the Vietnam Film Institute as part of the sixth Hanoi International Film Festival 2022. On display at the event will be 200 photos of numerous relic sites and cultural heritages, all of which are settings of cinematographic works used by both local and foreign filmmakers. Furthermore, approximately 150 images selected from 29 feature films and documentaries will also be exhibited at the function. Vietnamese documentary wins at Asian film festival in Da Nang

The documentary covered the tradition of ‘bride-kidnapping’ among the Mong ethnic minority in the northwest mountainous region of Vietnam. Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha and People’s artist Nhu Quynh handed over the award to the director at the award ceremony at Da Nang’s Trung Vuong Theatre on May 13. The judging panel selected it as the best among 12 films of the Asian competition award, and eight films of the Vietnamese film competition at the week-long festival. “It’s the longest documentary that I have done so far. I worked on the film in 2017-2021 with many difficulties seeking funding and assistance for the competition,” Diem said. “I thank the funding organisations, friends and the film crew for supporting me during production. I also express my sincerely thanks to the film’s main subject Ma Thi Di and the Mong community in helping me experience and explore their lifestyle,” she said. Exhibition spotlights Buddhism in Vietnam

The objects and photos on display reflect Buddhist thought, philosophy and spirit, and honour individuals who have made outstanding contributions to the development of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha (VBS) since its inception in November 1981.    Notably, they feature Buddhist popularisation in remote, border and island areas, including the nine islands in Truong Sa (Spartly), along with international cooperation in promoting Vietnam’s Buddhism to the world.   This is the first-ever exhibition that introduces all dignitaries of the Patronage Council, the Executive Council and other units of the VBS since the council was founded, as well as 13 departments and 63 provincial chapters of the council, according to Most Venerable Thich Tho Lac, head of the VBS’s cultural department.   Nearly 1,100 delegates from across the country will attend the ninth National Buddhist Congress, scheduled for November 28-29 in Hanoi.   During ...
