Vietnamese-origin artists in UK retain memories of homeland

Opened on April 19, the exhibition is the continuation of Vietnamese-origin artists’ journey to explore their homeland that started in 2022.

A large number of visitors from different groups and ages, especially young Vietnamese, have come to the event.

On display are items reflecting typical things, landscapes, and images of the past, traditional meals that connect family generations, and traditional foods deeply intertwined with the memory of Vietnam and the Vietnamese identity that parents want to pass down to future generations in the places they have settled down.

Visitors are greeted by a striking urban landscape installation constructed from Vietnamese plastic stools, highlighting the psychogeography of migrant populations.

The main room showcases object-based works on a low white table, inviting viewers to sit on bamboo carpets to engage with the works.

A space featuring a traditional-style altar of Vietnamese people also shows visitors a typical image of the country.

The exhibition that also includes many workshops, tea parties, and food sharing will last through July 11.

Vietnam overcome Malaysia to secure semifinal berth in 2023 SEA Games men’s football

The outcome of the Group B match held at Prince Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia was decided as soon as Malaysia were left with only nine players on the field following two red cards. The referee awarded Vietnam a penalty when a Malaysia defender handled the ball with their arm inside the box.  Although Nguyen Van Tung’s initial penalty kick was saved by goalkeeper Sikh Izhan, he was able to score on his second attempt, resulting in the opener for Vietnam. Following their concession, Malaysia were compelled to push forward in search of an equalizer, but they ended up seeing Van Tung complete his double and fourth goal at the 2023 SEA Games by heading in a cross from Vo Minh Trong on the left flank in the 32nd minute. Muhammad Aliff took advantage of Vietnamese goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan’s inability to catch the ball cleanly during a free kick and scored a goal in the 42nd minute to reduce Malaysia’s deficit. Vietnam selected among Top 8 Best Bikini at Miss Earth 2023

After receiving 28,000 likes, 1,200 comments, and 461,000 shares on the official Facebook page of the Miss Earth pageant, Lan Anh stands out. Among the Top 8 Best Bikini contestants for continental groups, Miss Earth Vietnam and Miss Earth Philippines from the Asia and Oceania group secured their spots. The Africa group featured beauties from Madagascar and Zimbabwe, while Paraguay and Venezuela represented the Americas. Miss Earth Bulgaria and Miss Earth Netherlands had the highest scores in the Europe group. Moving forward, the Top 8 contestants with the highest scores from each continental group will proceed to the second round of the Best Bikini voting.
