Vietnam Spotlighted at Seoul Food 2023
Seoul Food 2023 is the largest food exhibition in Korea, with the scale of 2.500 booths from 1,500 companies of 30 countries. This year, more than 30 Vietnamese enterprises attended the exhibition, promoting key export products such as processed foods, agricultural products, and spices.

Attending Seoul Food 2023 is also a great opportunity for domestic brands to grasp new trends and market demands from South Korea, Vietnam’s key foreign market.

Vietnamese businesses, with the support of the Embassy and Trade Office of Vietnam in Korea, include famous bands such as Masan and Vinamilk. From the very first day, these booths attracted the attention of a large number of visitors to try Vietnaemse products, to learn more information about local specialties as well as business cooperation opportunities.

Participating in Soeul Food 2023, Deputy General Director of Masan said that Masan considers Korea a key market in the development strategy of the company, which is bringing Vietnamese cuisine and brands to the world.

He said that Vietnamese cuisine is very popular in the Korean market. The key to creating the distinctive feature of the cuisine is the spices with traditional and unique flavors of Vietnam. The fact that there are more and more investors in the spice market shows the popularity of Vietnamese brands in the Korean market.

A representative of Sen Vietnam Company, Vu Hong Ha, said that its food products have been exported to the Korean market since 2014 until now. In 2022, the company successfully exported about 150 containers of cucumbers to the Korean market. Its main partners are restaurants and Lotte Mart supermarkets. This year, the business brought a very new product to the Korean market called coconut cake. It is a best-seller on the e-commerce site Coupang with signature tastes from Ben Tre and Quang Nam. The business representative said that Korea is a potential market for Vietnamese food, especially traditional products.

South Korea is currently Vietnam’s third largest trading partner after China and the US, with a trade volume of about US $88 billion in 2022. The strong trade cooperation between Vietnam and the Republic of Korea aims to reach the goal of US $100 billion in total trade turnover by the end of 2023.
The main export products of Vietnam to the Korean market are textiles, food, and agricultural products. However Every year, Korea imports about US $40 billion annually, of which Vietnam accounted for only about 5%.
